PONTIAC, Illinois – Early risers at Lincolnshire Apartments at 901 W. Lincoln St. received an abrupt wake-up call on Friday as a stove-top fire triggered the Pontiac Fire Department’s swift intervention at 7:14 AM.

On arrival, firefighters rapidly doused the minor blaze that had enveloped the stove. The aftermath required significant ventilation across the impacted apartment and the neighboring hallways, clearing the lingering, thick smoke.

Lt. Eddie Prendergast of the Fire Investigation Unit is actively probing the fire’s origin and cause. The conclusion remains pending.

The Pontiac Fire Department extends heartfelt gratitude to the Pontiac Police Department, Vermillion Valley Regional Emergency Communications Dispatch Center, and neighboring fire departments: Cullom Fire Protection District, Fairbury Fire Department, and Saunemin Fire Protection District for their unwavering support during this incident.
