Illinois State Police Investigate Fatal Motorcycle Chase in Marion

Marion, IL – A motorcyclist was killed early Sunday following a high-speed police chase that ended in Marion.

According to the Illinois State Police, the pursuit began around 12:50 a.m. when officers from the Herrin Police Department, aided by the Energy Police Department and Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, chased a fleeing motorcycle on Illinois Route 13. The motorcyclist collided with a stationary Williamson County Sheriff’s Office squad car at the intersection of Illinois Route 13 and Carbon Street. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

ISP is leading the ongoing investigation. No additional information is available at this time.
