Chicago, IL – Temperatures are climbing quickly across northern Illinois, with a warm-up beginning today and storm chances returning as early as Tuesday evening, especially south of the Chicago metro.

According to the National Weather Service in Chicago, highs will rise from the upper 40s to near 60°F Monday into the low to upper 70s Tuesday. A few isolated showers or thunderstorms may develop Tuesday evening, mainly along and south of the I-80 corridor, potentially affecting travel from Joliet to Kankakee during the evening commute.

Wednesday remains warm but cooler near Lake Michigan, where onshore winds may hold temperatures in the 50s and 60s, while inland areas reach up to 79°F. By Thursday, highs climb further into the 75–82°F range across much of the region, including Naperville, Elgin, and Aurora.

A stronger system arrives late Thursday into Friday, bringing more widespread showers and thunderstorms. Rain chances increase significantly Friday, with potential impacts to both morning and evening commutes along I-90, I-94, and I-55.

Residents should plan for changing conditions, including breezy weather Tuesday and increasing storm chances later in the week. Additional updates are expected as timing and coverage of late-week storms become clearer.
