Illinois, WI Border – A late winter weather system is poised to bring up to two inches of snow to the Illinois-Wisconsin border, with the National Weather Service in Chicago forecasting the highest snowfall potential for this area.

Starting Thursday night and extending into Friday morning, the anticipated wintry mix is set to impact the far northern Illinois region, with significant accumulations expected north of Interstate 88. This weather event may lead to hazardous travel conditions, particularly during the Friday morning rush hour.

Commuters are advised to exercise caution, as roads are likely to become slippery with the arrival of the snow. Those traveling farther north into southern Wisconsin should be especially prepared for more severe conditions. The Weather Service’s detailed forecast indicates a 70% or greater chance for the area to experience at least two inches of snow, necessitating careful planning and allowing for additional travel time.
