WILLOWBROOK, IL – In a case that has sent shockwaves through unincorporated Willowbrook, Jamilah Mahan faces charges for the alleged murder of her own twin brother, following a domestic incident that ended in tragedy.
DuPage County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene at 16W630 Mockingbird Lane on Monday where they discovered a violent altercation had occurred. Mahan is accused of shooting her twin brother during the dispute, which also involved a physical struggle with her mother. Law enforcement’s timely intervention prevented further harm, leading to Mahan’s immediate arrest.
Sheriff James Mendrick lauded the deputies’ valor and efficiency, as well as the cooperation with the DuPage County States Attorney’s Office, which expedited the charging process.
State’s Attorney Robert Berlin offered his deepest sympathies to the victim’s loved ones, noting the profound effect of this alleged domestic violence on the family and the broader community.
Mahan has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of aggravated domestic battery.
Mahan initial court appearance on March 21, 2024, resulted in the denial of pretrial release, mandating her stay in the DuPage County Correctional facility until her forthcoming court date on April 1, 2024.
