Kankakee, IL – Teen Found in Abandoned Home, Arrested in Connection with City Shooting, No Gun Found

Kankakee, IL – A teenager has been arrested following a shooting that sent another young individual to the hospital on Thursday afternoon. 

According to local police reports, the event unfolded just after 3:30 PM when authorities were alerted to shots fired on the 700 block of East Hickory. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 13-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to the leg. An extensive search of the vicinity led to the finding of a 14-year-old teenager in an abandoned house located on the 400 block of South Greenwood. 

Despite no weapons being recovered at the scene, the 14-year-old was apprehended by Kankakee City Police and is facing charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.
