Manteno, Illinois (December 22, 2023) – With the last Friday before Christmas upon us, traffic congestion is evident as people engage in last-minute shopping and preparations for the upcoming holiday weekend. This surge in activity has unfortunately coincided with multiple traffic incidents near Manteno, Illinois, exacerbating delays and disruptions.
Early in the morning, emergency personnel responded to an accident on 9000 North Rd, just east of Rt 45/52 in Manteno. The situation escalated when a crash involving an Amazon Prime semi-truck occurred on Interstate 57 at mile marker 320, located between the Bourbonnais Parkway and Manteno exits.
In response, Illinois State Police Troop 5 has implemented a traffic advisory, shutting down southbound lanes of Interstate 57 at milepost 320. Traffic is being diverted at the Manteno exit (milepost 322). Although northbound lanes have reopened, the southbound closure is expected to last for an extended period. Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes and to exercise caution when traveling in the area.
