ELKHART COUNTY – A quiet evening turned tragic when a collision between a Jeep and a horse-drawn buggy left seven people injured, including four children between the ages of 4 and 12.
The heart-wrenching incident unfolded at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 19, at the crossroads of County Road 37 and County Road 40.
According to Elkhart County Sheriff’s investigators, the devastating crash occurred when a 32-year-old woman from Goshen, Indiana, failed to adhere to the stop sign at the intersection. Her Jeep reportedly barrelled through the stop sign, slamming into the horse-drawn carriage on its driver’s side, taking the lives of the majestic horse and leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.
Authorities are working diligently to uncover the factors that contributed to this tragic accident.
