Lowell, IN – A vehicle pursuit in Indiana Tuesday morning led to the discovery of abandoned kittens after the suspect crashed and fled on foot. Troopers Galvan and Beers, along with K9 Zero, were involved in the chase when the suspect’s vehicle crashed.

During the subsequent search, K9 Zero discovered a litter of kittens abandoned in a box in the woods. Two kittens were rescued, while two others escaped and couldn’t be found. Trooper Galvan has taken the rescued kittens home and, along with her dog, is caring for them until a permanent home can be found.

According to Indiana State Police, the suspect remains at large and the investigation is ongoing.

Later on Tuesday morning, Trooper Carlson was patrolling I-94 near Chesterton when he noticed an injured Great Horned Owl on the shoulder of the interstate. Trooper Carlson secured the owl and transported it to Humane Indiana Wildlife in Porter County for treatment and rehabilitation.

The Indiana State Police commend the efforts of their troopers in protecting and rescuing animals in distress, highlighting the broader role law enforcement officers play in the community. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the suspect to contact the Indiana State Police Lowell Post.
