Richmond, IN – On April 24, a high-speed pursuit that began in Dayton, Ohio, concluded in Wayne County, Indiana, with the arraignment of suspect Daniel Payton.

After crossing state lines in a stolen vehicle, Payton now faces six felony charges among others, for offenses including drug possession, felonious assault, weapons violations, and stolen property possession. Wayne County Sheriff’s deputies played a crucial role in the arrest after deploying tire deflation devices to halt the stolen vehicle safely.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reported that the effective use of stop sticks by their officers prevented any injuries among law enforcement personnel involved in the chase. They commended the teamwork and coordination with Dayton Police and other agencies, highlighting the collective effort to manage public safety risks across state and county lines.
