HANCOCK COUNTY, IN – The Hancock County Sheriff’s Department is ringing alarm bells for all Indiana residents after revealing a concerning trend: thieves are stealing personal checks from mailboxes, ‘washing’ them, and committing fraud. Is this happening in other Indiana counties as well?

To stay on the safe side, residents everywhere are advised to hand-deliver checks directly to the post office. If you fall victim to such a scheme, alert your local law enforcement immediately.

For those in Hancock County, the Emergency Operations Center is reachable at 317-477-1144. Keep your financial safety top of mind.
