Indianapolis, IN – Two Indiana State Police troopers sustained minor injuries in a multi-vehicle collision on Tuesday afternoon on Interstate 65, just south of 38th Street in Indianapolis. The incident occurred when the troopers had stopped to investigate an earlier crash, according to Indiana State Police reports.
The troopers’ were reportedly parked were they were hit by a semi-truck that was driving illegally in the third lane. The semi also struck three other vehicles that had stopped behind the police cars. A tow truck driver involved in the incident narrowly avoided injury by leaping over the interstate wall to escape being pinned between his truck and the semi.
The semi driver involved in the crash was issued multiple citations, and charges may be pending as the investigation into the collision continues. The crash remains under investigation by the Indiana State Police, who are working to determine the full circumstances of the incident and any potential additional legal actions.
