Merrillville, IN – Commuters in Merrillville are advised to plan for traffic changes starting April 1 due to bridge maintenance by the Indiana Department of Transportation and Rieth Riley Construction. The project will impact State Road 55/Taft St., affecting the stretch between 65th Ave and 73rd Ave.

According to the Merrillville Fire Department, State Road 55 will be reduced to one lane at Turkey Creek with temporary signals managing traffic until mid-May. Motorists are encouraged to be vigilant and to expect delays, considering leaving earlier to reach their destinations on time. Safety around the construction area is emphasized as the town works on infrastructure improvements. Residents and travelers through Merrillville are thanked for their patience during this period.
