Indianapolis, IN – Traffic on I-74 near Lizton was brought to a standstill as eclipse viewers filled rest stops to capacity, prompting an unusual closure.

According to the Indiana Department of Transportation: West Central’s Facebook post, both eastbound and westbound rest parks were shut down due to the overflow of vehicles and spectators gathered for the celestial event.

The transportation department advises travelers to seek alternate rest areas and to plan for potential delays throughout the day as the eclipse draws high interest.
