JOLIET, IL – Harrah’s Casino and Hotel in Joliet experienced a moment of chaos as the premises were swiftly evacuated due to the discovery of a powerful half stick of high-grade fireworks found inside one of the hotel rooms shortly after 1 p.m. Friday.

The Joliet Police Department responded promptly, conducting a thorough search of the entire property, including the parking decks. Although the explosive device lacked a wick or igniting mechanism, authorities are diligently investigating whether its presence was accidental. Efforts are underway to locate the registered occupant of the room to confirm the nature of the incident.

In an update, Joliet Police concluded their on-scene investigation, leading to the reopening of the Casino and Hotel to the public. They have reassured that there is no current risk to public safety. Further information will be released as it becomes available.
