CHICAGO — A 53-year-old worker lost his life while setting up for the NASCAR Chicago Street Race in Grant Park.

Initial reports suggest the possibility of electrocution, but an autopsy will determine the exact cause of death. A NASCAR spokesperson confirmed a contractor’s “fatal medical emergency” near the race starting line west of Buckingham Fountain.

The Chicago Fire Department transported the man to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
