Joliet, IL – Major Traffic Disruption on Route 53 Following Early Morning Crash

Joliet, IL – Commuters in Joliet are facing significant delays this morning following a major crash on Route 53. 

According to the Joliet Police Department, the southbound lanes of Route 53 (South Chicago Street) are currently closed at Schweitzer Road. The closure, which began around 6:30 A.M. on February 16, 2024, is expected to last for an extended period due to the severity of the incident. Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes and stay updated as the situation develops. 

The cause of the crash and any potential injuries have not been disclosed at this time. Further details are expected as the investigation progresses.
