Joliet, IL – Following a daylight drive-by shooting on Thursday that led to a swift law enforcement response, Joliet police are actively seeking information.
The incident, which occurred around 11:40 a.m. in the 300 block of Republic Avenue, involved an exchange of gunfire between a dark-colored SUV and a sedan. Although the vehicles involved quickly left the scene, the gunfire resulted in damage to an unoccupied vehicle and two residential buildings, without causing any injuries despite the heavy gunfire.
The shooting prompted an immediate lockdown of Joliet West High School and Thomas Jefferson Elementary School, affecting students and staff for approximately 30 minutes. As the police delve into the early stages of their investigation, they are urging the public to come forward with any relevant information or video footage that could aid in identifying the suspects.
