Kankakee Fire Department Wants You: Dare to Make a Difference

Kankakee, IL – The Kankakee Fire Department has launched an exciting recruitment campaign, complete with a gripping video trailer that captures the thrill and dedication of firefighting. The action-packed visual showcases the intensity and bravery of the department’s team in the line of duty, aiming to inspire potential recruits.

Following the video’s release on social media, the department detailed the upcoming Entry Level Firefighter Exam on March 23, 2024. They are offering a starting salary of $67,540 for qualified Firefighter/Paramedics. Candidates must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, between the ages of 21 and 35, and hold one of the necessary certifications, such as EMT-B, EMT-P, or Basic Operations Firefighter. A valid driver’s license and high school diploma (or equivalent) are required, along with the CPAT certification at the time of hire.

Applications are accepted from now through March 11, 2024. The video and application details have been made available online, inviting courageous and community-minded individuals to join their ranks.
