Kankakee, IL – Manteno Man Arrested for Alleged Machete Threat at Bus Stop

Kankakee, IL – A Manteno man was arrested for allegedly brandishing a machete at a Kankakee bus stop, according to local police reports. 

The incident occurred just before 7 p.m. Wednesday night at the intersection of East Chestnut and North Schuyler in Kankakee. According to the Kankakee City Police, witnesses reported that 32-year-old Thomas Wood approached people waiting for a bus, inquiring if they had any marijuana. Upon being told they did not, Wood allegedly began swinging a machete, threatening to harm anyone who approached him. 

Wood was arrested on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
