Kankakee, IL – Late Friday night, a fierce blaze tore through a detached garage on South Cannon Avenue in Kankakee, leading to significant damages estimated at $120,000.

The Kankakee City Fire Department rushed to the scene after receiving a distress call around 10:30 p.m. Upon their arrival, firefighters battled the flames that had engulfed the structure, threatening the safety of the surrounding area. Inside the garage, a vehicle suffered extensive damage, accounting for $80,000 of the total losses. The fire’s intensity was such that it also caused collateral damage to neighboring properties; two adjacent garages experienced melting siding due to the extreme heat.

Fortunately, despite the severity of the fire, no injuries were reported among residents or responding personnel. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
