Kankakee, IL – A Kankakee neighborhood is reeling after the discovery of a 14-year-old shot dead in a local residence Monday night. 

Responding to an emergency call at 9:04 p.m., officers arrived at a home on the 300 block of S. Rosewood Ave., where they were confronted with a heartbreaking scene. Family members reported the sound of a gunshot before the young teen was found in his bedroom, leading to a swift investigation by the City of Kankakee Police Department. 

With the Kankakee County Coroner’s Office joining the investigation, officials are piecing together this shocking incident, which has left the community in mourning and searching for answers.
