St. Louis, MO – The St. Louis County Police Department warns of a scam where perpetrators impersonate officers to extort money, specifically using the identity of “Lt. Colonel Tim Cunningham” of the “Sheriff’s Office” to falsely accuse individuals of missing court dates and demanding payment.

Residents are reminded that the department is not a sheriff’s office and does not call citizens to request payments. The public is advised to stay vigilant against such scams and to spread awareness among friends and family to prevent further incidents.
