Kankakee, IL – The National Weather Service (NWS) is hosting a valuable Storm Spotter Class on Thursday, March 21, from 6:30pm to 8:30pm, aimed at educating individuals about severe weather spotting. According to the NWS, this session is a significant opportunity for those interested in weather phenomena and public safety.

The class, which requires no prior registration, will be held at Kankakee Community College, located at 100 College Drive, Kankakee, IL 60901. This program is part of a broader initiative by the NWS to enhance severe weather preparedness in the community. Participants will learn from NWS Chicago staff about identifying severe weather patterns and the crucial role of storm spotters in weather safety and reporting.

For those unable to attend or wishing to supplement their knowledge, the NWS also offers an online spotter training course and training schedule, available at https://www.weather.gov/lot/spotter_talk. This resource serves as an excellent introduction or a refresher to reinforce the skills taught in the in-person class.
