Kankakee, IL – Three Displaced After Cooking Fire Engulfs Duplex Kitchen Tuesday Afternoon

Kankakee, IL – A fire, sparked by a cooking accident, ravaged the kitchen of a two-story duplex in the 1800 block of East Eagle, displacing three residents and causing minor injuries, on Tuesday afternoon around 4:30 p.m.

According to reports, when Kankakee City Firefighters arrived, supported by crews from Bradley, Bourbonnais, and Kankakee Township Fire Departments, they encountered heavy flames within the kitchen area. Despite the swift response and the efforts to contain the blaze, the fire resulted in significant damage to the home. 

The American Red Cross is now assisting those affected by the fire, as investigators confirm the cause was related to cooking activities. This event serves as a cautionary reminder of the potential hazards in the home.
