ONARGA – A Kankakee Man has died after allegedly invading his ex-wife’s home.

According to Iroquois County Sheriff’s Department, Sheriff’s Deputies were called to a home in the 600 block of W. Lincoln Ave Saturday to a report of a home invasion of a person with a gun.  When they arrive at the home they spoke to the victim’s daughter, who reported the suspect was her ex-husband, 29-year-old Jordan R. Johnson of Kankakee.  Johnson allegedly entered the home and threatens to kill the victim, firing one shot during an altercation in the garage.

Johnson fled the scene out the back door before Deputies arrived.  Surrounding agencies responded to the scene and began searching for Johnson, locating him at 10:45 p.m. near Bork Nurseries.  Johnson, while fleeing through a bean field, reportedly shot himself on the scene.  He was shortly after pronounced dead on the scene.

The victim was transported to Iroquois Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released.

Iroquois County Sheriff’s report no officers discharged their weapons during the incident.  Illinois State Police Investigators and Crime Scene Technicians conducted an investigation at the scene.
