Illinois Party Horror: Gunshot Victim Discovered at Frantic Kankakee Gathering with Fleeing Vehicles

KANKAKEE, IL – Kankakee Sheriff’s police responded to reports of gunshots early Sunday at a large gathering where they discovered a gunshot victim.

According to reports, the victim, identified as Wenstan J. Penerman, was found at a home in the 400 block of North Roosevelt Ave, shortly after 2 am. Officers noted numerous vehicles fleeing the area while roughly 100 bystanders and party-goers frantically attempted to render aid to the gunshot victim. 

Tragically, Penerman, 38, a resident of Kankakee, succumbed to his injuries shortly after the incident.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the friends and family of Mr. Penerman,” said Kankakee Sheriff Mike Downey on Monday. “I encourage anyone with information to contact our investigators in hopes that those responsible for his death can be brought to justice.”
