KANKAKEE, IL – Murder charges have been dropped against Syncere L Prince, an 18-year-old Kankakee resident initially accused of the fatal shooting of 16-year-old Kimoni Franks on July 11th. Franks tragically lost his life after being found shot on a city sidewalk earlier this summer.

During a preliminary hearing held on Monday, as the Kankakee County State’s Attorney’s Office revealed that their decision to drop the murder charges was prompted by compelling new evidence that emerged from the State Police Crime Lab’s testing.

As a result of the altered charges, Prince’s bond has been significantly reduced from a staggering $2 million to a more manageable $250,000. However, his legal battles are far from over, as he still faces charges related to possession of weapons and drugs.
