Paducah, KY – Dry and mild conditions will hold across western Kentucky through Thursday, but a surge of showers and thunderstorms is expected to arrive late Thursday night, bringing travel impacts by Friday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, rain chances increase significantly after midnight Thursday, with the most widespread showers and storms expected Friday into Friday night. High temperatures will climb into the upper 70s to low 80s by Thursday, setting the stage for unsettled weather as a cold front moves into the region.
The heaviest impacts are expected along major routes including I-24, I-69, and U.S. 60, where periods of moderate to heavy rain could reduce visibility and create ponding on roads. Cities such as Paducah, Murray, and Mayfield may experience repeated rounds of showers, especially during peak travel hours Friday.
Storm chances will continue into the weekend, with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms expected Saturday and Sunday. While not constant, these periods of rain could disrupt outdoor plans and slow travel intermittently.
Residents should take advantage of dry conditions through midweek to prepare, then plan for slower commutes and possible delays starting early Friday. Additional alerts may be issued as storm timing and intensity become clearer.
