Lake County, IN – An overturned semi that closed portions of I-94 was a victim of a police pursuit Wednesday.
According to the Indiana State Police Lowell Post, a crash on eastbound I-94 near the 15.8-mile marker, west of the Portage exit, has led to a semi-truck overturning and blocking the entire roadway. The crash occurred when a vehicle involved in a pursuit with law enforcement struck the semi, which then rolled over. The driver of the semi has sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The Indiana State Police are currently handling the crash investigation, while inquiries about the pursuit should be directed to the Lake County Sheriff’s Department.
The incident has caused a significant shutdown on the eastbound lanes of I-94, and motorists are advised to seek alternative routes. Further updates will be issued as the cleanup progresses.
