Hobart, IN – In a major crackdown on narcotics trafficking, Hobart Police Narcotics Unit investigators conducted a targeted operation on May 14, 2024, at a Merrillville hotel located at the intersection of US 30 and Mississippi Street.
The search warrant was part of an extensive investigation into drug trafficking activities near the Hobart/Merrillville border. Police had been tracking two suspects, identified as Jamal Allen and Lauren Zinmer, who were allegedly distributing significant quantities of cocaine and heroin in the region.
During the raid, law enforcement officers seized more than 8 grams of a suspected heroin/fentanyl mixture, over 16 grams of suspected cocaine, and a substantial sum of money from the hotel room, where the suspects resided with their young child.
Both Allen and Zinmer were taken into custody, facing a total of 21 felony and misdemeanor charges, with the most severe being Level 2 felonies.
