CHICAGO, IL – A bicyclist is in critical condition after a baffling and disturbing attack in Chicago’s South Loop area this morning. The incident took place around 1 a.m. in the 2200 block of South State Street.
According to police, a witness reported that the unsuspecting 62-year-old victim was riding his bicycle on the sidewalk when an unidentified assailant launched a violent assault. In a strange twist, the attacker used a construction sign as a weapon, repeatedly striking the bicyclist. Adding to the perplexity, the assailant then used the victim’s own bike to inflict further harm.
The injured bicyclist was quickly rushed to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
The motive behind this senseless attack remains unknown, leaving both authorities and residents perplexed. Despite heightened efforts by the police to locate the assailant, no arrests have been made thus far.
