Michigan City, IN – Shots rang out in Michigan City on Tuesday evening when a 19-year-old DoorDash driver and her juvenile passenger were fired upon while delivering food in the 300 block of Walker Street. The young driver had just pulled up to the delivery location when the calm of the evening was shattered by the sound of gunfire.
Both driver and passenger reacted quickly, escaping the danger zone without injury.
Michigan City Police arrived at the scene at approximately 5:20 p.m. to find the vehicle had been hit by bullets several times. Investigators from the department’s investigative division and county drug task force worked tirelessly throughout the night, collecting evidence and conducting interviews in a bid to bring the perpetrators to justice.
The shocking incident serves as a stark reminder of the danger that DoorDash drivers and other delivery drivers face while simply doing their jobs. Police have not yet made any arrests and the investigation remains ongoing.
