Three-Vehicle Crash in Manhattan Leaves One with Life-Threatening Injuries

MANHATTAN, Ill. – A three-vehicle crash in Manhattan on Monday afternoon left one person with life-threatening injuries and caused significant traffic delays. 

The accident occurred just before 4 p.m. at Baker Road and US 52, involving a car, a pickup truck that rolled over on the roadway on its side, and a construction truck hauling a heavy load of lumber that came to a rest in a nearby ditch.

Emergency responders from multiple districts, including Manhattan Fire Protection District, New Lenox, East Joliet, Frankfort, Elwood, Wilmington, and Monee, rushed to the scene. Three people were taken to nearby hospitals while two others refused treatment.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. Motorists advised to avoid the area if possible while investigators work.
