CRETE – Police have charged a man, identified as Landres Thompson, aged 40, with three counts of attempted residential burglary, all felonies, and transported him to the Will County Adult Detention Facility where he awaits a bond hearing.
Thompson, who has a history of criminal activity, was recently arrested in Chicago for criminal trespass. The police department is requesting assistance from the public in this regard, urging residents in the area to review their home security cameras to check if Thompson entered their yard or property.
According to Crete Police, the suspect, a male black in his 40s, was captured on two separate residential home security cameras walking around residences, attempting to open front and back doors, and looking in windows. The police department believes Thompson visited at least three separate residences in Crete between 9:00 am and 10:30 am on the day of the incident. His path of travel is believed to be south of Union Ave from Steger, east on Richton Road to north on Dorsetshire/Wilshire/Stafford/Berkshire neighborhood, east in the area of Cornwall/Denell neighborhood, east through golf course area, east to Kent Place/Aberdeen Drive/Saint Andrews/Ayr Ct/Sussex Terrace.
Additional charges may follow as more information is gathered. The police department thanked the public for calling in the suspicious subject and providing home videos of Thompson on their property and attempting to gain entry.
