ST. JOSEPH, Ill. – The St. Joseph Stanton Fire Protection District is reminding garage salers to park their vehicles as far to the side of the road as possible when attending garage sales.

The district issued a public service announcement on social media Friday morning after a delay in responding to a medical emergency due to a parked car blocking the road.

“Seconds count when responding to an emergency,” the district said. “Please park responsibly to ensure we can get through to help those in need.” The district urges residents to keep their streets clear and to be mindful of emergency responders.

No word if any additional injuries were caused due to the delay or if charges could be filed against the vehicle in question.
