Helicopter lands on I-57 near Bourbonnais Parkway after Driver thrown from vehicle

BOURBONNAIS – I-57 Northbound near the Bourbonnais Parkway closed for a short time Sunday evening after a serious crash requiring a lifeline helicopter to land on the Interstate.

Illinois State Police District 21 shut down the roadway after a lone car went off the roadway and crash sometime around 4:30 pm yesterday.  According to reports, the car was headed northbound on the interstate and left the road, entering a ditch. The driver was thrown from the car, suffering serious injuries. That driver’s injuries said to be non-life threatening.

The northbound lanes of I-57 reopened by 5:30 pm.
