Illinois Man Arrested in Hit-and-Run Incident Involving Bicyclist Fighting for Life

DECATUR, Ill. – A 60-year-old bicyclist is fighting for his life after being struck by a hit-and-run driver. 

According to police it happened around 1:30 Saturday morning on N. Oakland Avenue. With the aid of nearby video footage, Officers were later able to locate the suspect vehicle and at a residence and arrested Darius J. Hodges, 27, on charges of Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Crash, along with several traffic violations. 

The victim was reportedly on a raised center medium at the time of the wreck and is now facing several injuries at a local hospital.

Police are urging anyone with information to come forward as the investigation continues.
