CHICAGO, IL – Young motorcyclists in Illinois will have an easier path to obtaining their vehicle license, thanks to a new law championed by State Senator Doris Turner.

Previously, aspiring riders under 18 had to pass both a motorcycle driver’s test and a Cycle Driver Testing Course. However, under the new law, they will only need to complete the motorcycle driver’s test with the Illinois Secretary of State. Governor Pritzker signed the bill into law, and it will take effect on January 1, 2024.

The change aims to simplify the licensing process and make it more accessible for young motorcyclists in Illinois.
