Illinois Fire: Firefighter Hospitalized, Electrical Issue Suspected

URBANA, Ill. – A firefighter was hospitalized after a house fire in Urbana on Saturday. Responding to a call at the 900 block of E. Water Street, the fire department discovered light smoke from the roof, indicating a potential electrical problem. 

Keeping their distance until power was cut off, crews managed to contain the fire and eventually extinguish it. The Champaign Fire Department provided assistance with additional units. 

Thankfully, no one was inside the house at the time. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Residents are urged to prioritize fire safety in their homes.
