Lake County, IN – An afternoon patrol turned into a dramatic chase as Officer Alexis Dills of the Cedar Lake Police Department apprehended Solomon J. Pearson, 45, of Hammond, after a high-speed pursuit.Â
The incident occurred on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at approximately 1:50 PM. Officer Dills, recognizing Pearson and his red 2006 Mini Cooper from previous law enforcement encounters, attempted a traffic stop. Pearson, aware of his active warrant from an April 25 drug arrest, fled northbound along Wicker Avenue.
The pursuit escalated as Pearson sped toward W. 109th Avenue, eventually taking an off-road detour that led his vehicle to become stuck in a swampy field. As he attempted to flee on foot, items from his vehicle scattered across the roadway, suggesting further illicit activities. Officers Dills and Ben King, with additional support from St. John PD and Lake County Sheriff’s Police, managed to take Pearson into custody.
Currently detained at Lake County Jail, Pearson faces charges including possession and dealing of controlled substances, resisting law enforcement, and reckless driving.
