AURORA, IL – A 57-year-old man from Aurora is currently recovering after a harrowing incident involving a motorized scooter that left him underneath a bus.

The accident occurred on Thursday afternoon, at the intersection of Farnsworth Avenue and Molitor Road.

The Aurora Police Department responded to the scene at 3:42 PM and found the man with a severe arm injury after encountering the vehicle. Thanks to the swift response of the Aurora Fire Department medics, he was transported to a local hospital where he is now listed in stable condition.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the man was allegedly riding the motorized scooter on the sidewalk along Farnsworth Avenue when it began to veer from the sidewalk and tossed the man into the path of the oncoming bus.

The crash scene was closed for approximately 2 hours as the Aurora Police Department’s Traffic Division utilized state-of-the-art drone technology to reconstruct the area and create a 3D digital map for further analysis.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing and no citations have been issued in the crash.
