Coast Guard, Rescue Chopper searching for missing Crew Member of Tug Boat

CHANNAHON – The search will continue today for a missing member of a tug boat crew thought to have been lost somewhere between the Des Plaines River Bridge and Dresden Lock and Dam in the Big Basin Marina area.

According to Channahon Police, it happened at 7:22 p.m. last night after receiving word from the Coast Guard the captain of a Tug Boat had reported a member of their crew was missing somewhere in the area.  Police along with and Channahon Fire along with Minooka Fire searched the area.

The missing crew member is said to be a white male, 50, wearing blue jeans, a blue Carhartt t-shirt, and should have a life vest on.

A drone was deployed during search efforts overnight to search the area aided by United States Coast Guard rescue choppers.  It was called off shortly after 9 p.m. and expected to resume beginning at 6 a.m. today.
