MORRIS, IL – A group of teenagers were taken into custody last Saturday after allegedly shooting at vehicles in Stratton Park.
According to Morris Police, it happened just before 7:30 p.m. when officers responded to a distress call with assistance of the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office and located a silver Trailblazer on Route 47 and Southmor Road.
All three occupants, identified as juveniles, were taken into custody.
After a brief inspection, officers discovered long gun style gel blasters inside the vehicle. The teens were each cited for violating the Discharge of a Firearm in City Limits law, which strictly prohibits the firing of guns, pistols, rifles, pellet guns, BB guns, or any other firearms that launch solid projectiles within the city’s boundaries.
“Please take time to educate your children on the dangers of this kind of behavior,” Morris Police said Friday. “Not only is there risk of damage to property, the guns look real and shoot things. They could easily be mistaken for a legitimate threat and someone may shoot back with a real weapon.”
Subsequently, the juveniles were released into the custody of their parents.
