Arrest Made in Kankakee Bar Shooting Incident

KANKAKEE, IL – After nearly two weeks of investigation, Kankakee City Police have made an arrest in connection with the shots fired inside a local bar on Court Street. 

According to City Police, Devonta L Jackson, a 35-year-old resident of Kankakee, has been charged with Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm inside an Occupied Building, stemming from the incident that occurred on July 15th. Eyewitnesses to the event say it was during a fight when Jackson allegedly brandished a firearm and fired a shot into the bar’s ceiling.  

Jackson was arrested Thursday and is currently being held at the Jerome Combs Detention Center, awaiting his bond hearing.
