Kankakee Schools on Lockdown After Gunfire Erupts Tuesday

KANKAKEE, IL – District 111 schools went on lockdown for a time Tuesday after multiple sources reported gunfire in the 500 block of South Osborne around 1:30 pm. Students and staff were immediately placed on lockdown, but lifted a short time later.

The incident left many in suspense about potential injuries. However, early reports indicate that a home in the vicinity sustained damage during the incident.

As anxious parents awaited news, Kankakee City Police remained tight-lipped about the unfolding situation as an investigation begins. A statement from authorities is expected later today, shedding light on the incident’s details.
