LIMESTONE – Limestone Fire will once again be staffed on weekend beginning December 1st.

The announcement came Thursday morning after the Board of Trustees at the Limestone Township Fire Protection District (LTFPD) announced they had been selected for Grant Funding through the Local Coronavirus Urgent Remediation Emergency Support Program (CURE Program).

The CURE program is part of the CARES (Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security) Act passed by Congress earlier this year.

“The award of this financial assistance has afforded the LTFPD to temporarily restore full staffing on the weekends until the funds are exhausted,” LTFPD said in a release Thursday.  The aid will allow weekend staffing through the next calendar year.

Prior to the first of the month, staffing will be restored in the meantime based on personnel availability. Weekend staffing had been cut after a Tax Referendum failed during the November 3rd election, along with fire referendums for both Bourbonnais and Grant Park.
