Merrillville PD warns Indiana, Illinois Gymgoers of Fake Membership Theft spree

MERRILLVILLE, Ind. – The Merrillville Police Department has reported a series of thefts that have taken place at several Planet Fitness locations in Indiana and Illinois. Over the past month, five theft incidents have been reported at the Planet Fitness facility in Merrillville, Indiana alone.

Thieves have been using fake memberships to gain access to the gyms and have been stealing personal items from lockers, including wallets, credit cards, and keys. The Merrillville Police Department Detective Bureau is currently investigating these cases and is urging the public to come forward with any information they may have.

Anyone who can identify the individuals in the photographs or has any information on the thefts is encouraged to contact the MPD Detective Bureau at 219-769-3531. Anonymous tips can also be emailed to investigations@merrillville.in.gov.
