FAIRBURY, IL – A repeat sex offender has been handed a sentence of nearly three decades in prison for his involvement in distributing child pornography that victimized a child under the age of 13.

Livingston County Judge Jennifer Bauknecht delivered the verdict Monday, imposing a 22-year sentence for the distribution charge and three years each for the possession charges. Kevin Probus, 45, of Fairbury, previously violated probation in 2015, will be required to register as a sex offender for life upon his release.

The arrest of Probus was made possible through the vigilant efforts of the Fairbury Police Department, acting on a tip provided by the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC). The sentence has been widely commended by the local community as a powerful message against child exploitation and a demonstration of the justice system’s commitment to protecting vulnerable individuals.
