KANKAKEE, IL – A random shoplifting incident took an unexpected twist last week when Kankakee police swiftly apprehended two individuals on serious charges.

According to city police reports, the incident unfolded at a business in the 1800 block of E. Court St. on Friday, where two men allegedly brazenly walked in and snatched a case of beer, walking out without paying. The vigilant manager identified the alleged culprits as two people he knew, 39-year-old Amir Lindsey and 38-year-old Gus Robinson Jr.

Shortly after the alleged theft, authorities spotted the duo strolling down Court Street, resulting in their immediate arrest. Both men were allegedly involved in a battery and robbery targeting an individual in the 300 block of South Rosewood just days earlier.

Both Lindsey and Robinson now face serious charges of aggravated battery and robbery and are being held on a staggering $100,000 bond at the Jerome Combs Detention Center in Kankakee.
